Art Psychotherapy
Creative Healing with Art
Service Description
What is Art Psychotherapy? Art Therapy is a form of Psychotherapy that offers the use of the arts and creative processes combined with traditional talking therapy to help you explore thoughts, emotions and experiences. Art in therapy isn't about creating something beautiful. It's about making meaning, especially when words fall short. At its heart, Art Therapy recognises that not all experiences can be put into words - emotions, memories, trauma and relational patterns often live in the body and the subconscious. Creativity allows these deeper layers to surface in a gentle, symbolic way, it offers a safe and reflective space in which clients can communicate experiences that may be difficult to articulate verbally. Art modalities may include visual arts and imagery, clay, poetry, somatic bodywork and drama. Professionally accredited Art Psychotherapist's are trained to specialist master's - level standards in creative and psychological therapy. As a protected title, it can only be used by individuals who meet strict professional, ethical and clinical standards.
